My Hectic Life

Alright, I know most of my readers have already learned the reason for my mysterious last post.  Its been a whirlwind of a weekend/week.  Mike's coming home from OCS with the possibility of going back to the seminary...  Just pray the Holy Spirit guides Michael and gives him perseverance. We're so hoping that he can be settled soon.

On another note, the ladies' group at the local parish gave me a convent "shower" on Sunday.

I gave them each a nun

Got lots of great stuff

Had some cake

...and chocolate...

And, yesterday Mom asked me to wash the van, which I did, and then I asked if I could give my own car a bath.  We proceeded to have a discussion about my claiming the Focus, but Mom said I can say, while I'm here and Dad's on active duty, that the Focus is "my" car!!

I promptly spent two hours wahsing it (from brown to white), drying it, cleaning it, polishing it, and conditioning it!

No, I was not paid for my work - I was rewarded with getting to drive!  I love my little white car...

Prayer Request

A few weeks ago (around Becket's birth) a deacon friend of ours died after a long illness. He left behind his wife, Glenda, and children. His younger son, Chris was a great comfort to his mother during the funeral process. Yesterday, 42 -year-old Chris was found dead by his mother. He apparently died after a massive heart attack. As you can imagine, Glenda is taking this loss very hard. Please pray for this family as they struggle through this catastrophe and grieve the loss of two instead of one. We have hope that Chris is now reunited to his father in Heaven.

Two Truths Tuesday 21

No, you just thought this was Wednesday...

Two Truths Answer

Two Truths Tuesday

Wow!  We haven't had two differing answers in a while.  Let's see who has won...

1.  I am not entering a piano competition.  Yay for Haus Frau!  I am trying to learn the Hungarian Rhapsody No. II, but I know I'll not have it down by the end of the month.  I'll be lucky if I can learn it by my senior recital!  It's at least sixteen pages...

2.  I have been watching the new Jane Eyre.  Sorry, Bernadette!  the problem is that it comes in two DVDs from Netflix, so I've been waiting two days to find out how it ends!  It should come in today's mail.  The movie is much more gothic and serious.  Big Bro said that it's very close to the feel of the book.  It's just the lighting and shadows and sounds that make it scary...

3.  Fr. George does want me to cantor for Mass every week because he trusts me and likes my voice.  But, as we told him, I can't be the only person who knows what to do in the case that I get sick or something.  And, other people in the choir should have an opportunity to cantor.

Two Truths Tuesday

Two Truths Tuesday

1.  I'm entering a piano competition on the 30th.  I'm not sure whether I'll be able to tackle the Hungarian Rhapsody by Lizst in time...

2.  I'm on my fourth Jane Eyre.  This one was made in 2006 and is quite frightening in places. It's a good thing that I already know the story...

3.  After singing the Responsory again last Sunday, our pastor asked Mama if I could be the permament cantor at the basilica!

Two Truths and a Lie...

Two Truths Tuesday

And, again!  kudos for Bernadette.

1.  >Is definitely true, considering the extra Civil War themed post...

2.  We have never had real fireworks as long as I can remember.  We used to have little sparklers and hand-held stuff, but nothing this year.  Mr. B. is afraid of the loud noises, though!  We went to see the city's fireworks, over the lake.  It was beautiful.

3.  I'm amazed that there were no comments concerning this entry!!  I was so nervous in front of all the people, but it went great.  I'll be chanting the psalm again this Sunday.  (Prayers, please!)

Next Major Update:  Big Bro has a job!!  He's the youth minister and coordinator for one of the local parishes (not Sts. Peter and Paul).  He said I could help out with the little kids if I want.  :) < I Think...

Two Truths Tuesday

Two Truths Tuesday

Lawrence Chamberlain,
by Jeff Daniels

1.  I've watched Gods and Generals and am in the middle of the movie Gettysburg. I just finished the Civil War chapter of American History and thought it was rushed and confusing.  So, we've been watching the movies, which have helped a lot.  And, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain is my new hero.  I think he becomes my new hero every time I see the movie.

2.  We shot off our own fireworks last night!  They couldn't be too big in the neighborhood, but it was still a lot of fun.  We did not have noisemakers 'cause none of my family likes them.  It's established that Mr. B. is afraid of the 4th of July.  :)

3.  I sang the Responsory Psalm for Sunday's Mass from the Lectern.  Quite and amazing feat, for me.  This is the person who would cry if pressured to play piano in front of ten people.  And she stood up in front of about 300 people at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul to sing!  I am proud of her.

The Answer

After keeping you in a legnthly expanse of suspence...  The correct answer to the quiz is actually #3.

1.  I helped Mama take things to the thrift store in town.  Two nice "old" men, who were somewhere between 40 and 60, helped us carry boxes.  When I opened the door for them, one of the men said, "You're a nice young lady, will you marry me?"  Of course, there was a long pause for me to question whether I did actually hear him right.  Then he just laughed outrageously and said he was kidding.  I think I laughed, but it was kind of shocking...  Later, he told his co-worker in the shop that I had "broken his heart".

2.  Yes, the garbage can story is definately true.  I don't think I could have made that up.  Oh, and thanks, Fidelio, for the backup story!  :)

3.  Ok, so this one was rather tricky.  I did go behind the organ (or should I say up, above, and behind the organ, about 80 ft from the ground!)  Unfortunately, there was only about 4 ft of space to move around in.  I stuck my hand out and took a picture looking up, and you could not see up the bell tower.  There was a wall with a trap door.  Oh, well.
