Update on Big Bro

So, lots of you have been asking for an update on my Big Bro.  Up till today, we haven't had an update since Sunday.  But, I think I'm getting a little ahead of myself...

A little over a week ago, Mike called saying that he had been pulled from PT due to symptoms similar to a heart attack.  (I'm keeping it simple so I don't get details mixed up...)  As I understand, they told him that, basically, his muscles gave up and his kidneys began to shut down.  For that reason, he has been put into rehabilitation with special PT instructors to fix the problem he has.

Anyway, today I got a letter that I thought you might want to read: (minus a "colorful metaphor," as Spock says)

"Dear Elizabeth,
"I wanted to write and apologize that I'm going to miss your entrance into the convent.  I know you'll probably say 'oh, that's ok' but I know you are disappointed and I wanted to make sure you knew I was thinking about you.
"Besides this place mainly royally ___, there are some things that are pretty cool.  I get to salute!  How cool is that?  If I walked past Dad outside I would have to salute him.
"How is Benny doing?  Is he still a spasticat?  What about squackers and that uuugggly cat?
"By the way, I'm really glad you rode all the roller coasters at Dollywood.  Wasn't that fun?  You've finally gotten over your fears and even put your hands up!
"Anyway, I have stuff to do so, until the next letter,
"Sincerely, Mike."

For a little commentary, "squackers" is a reference to our neighborhood cat, Squeaker, and "that uuugggly cat" is a reference to his son who we call Opossum.  Yes, Opossum is a cat who looks like a opossum.

On another note, my last, my final, my absolute last English paper was graded a 96, giving me a 96 quarter grade and a 96 year grade for 12th Grade English!  I'm done (hopefully) for life!!  Two Religion papers are all that I have left.  Yay!

Yippeeeeeeee!!!

My Roe v. Wade paper was graded...

100!!!

Unfortunately, as Fidelio would point out, my final for the American Government Course is only a 99 - not exactly the grade I was shooting for...

Anyway, I'll leave the paper on for awhile for you to enjoy.  :)

Temporary Page

I put my Roe v. Wade research paper on the blog as a new page.  I am purposefully posting it before it is graded by Seton.  I could have many rantings on the subject of how the arguments given to me to prove that abortion should be illegal actually prove the opposite according to legal terms...

But, I have to get to 'shool' (as Megamind says it).  Tell me what you think!

TTT Answer

I just realized that it has been a week since my TTT post.  Oh well.  Here's the answer:
Two Truths Tuesday
1.  Seton accidentally mailed me the wrong book for Geography, so I went a week without being able to work on that course.  But, I thought I had lost it until the next day when I found out what was wrong.

2.  He did not bite me on that day, but unfortunately it was not to last...

3.  Aha!  I successfully foolled you, I think.  No BMW for dad.  He would really like to buy a new car, but that's not in our budget at the present...

By the way, it would have been really funny, Haus Frau, if you did try to sneak around our house.  Your considerably large vehicle probably would have been greeted by a happy me who would be very pleased to see you!

Two Truths Tuesday

Two Truths Tuesday
OK, this one should be really easy.

1.  I started school today!  And, (can you believe it?) I lost my Geography text book on the first day of school.

2.  Mr. B. slept with me almost the whole night long.  And, he did not bite me this morning!

3.  My dad bought a new car on Labor Day.  He traded in his Focus for a '03 BMW M5.  Vroom-vroom!

Grades + GPA

You explain to me how this is possible:

Two Truths Tuesday

Two Truths Tuesday

Lawrence Chamberlain,
by Jeff Daniels

1.  I've watched Gods and Generals and am in the middle of the movie Gettysburg. I just finished the Civil War chapter of American History and thought it was rushed and confusing.  So, we've been watching the movies, which have helped a lot.  And, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain is my new hero.  I think he becomes my new hero every time I see the movie.

2.  We shot off our own fireworks last night!  They couldn't be too big in the neighborhood, but it was still a lot of fun.  We did not have noisemakers 'cause none of my family likes them.  It's established that Mr. B. is afraid of the 4th of July.  :)

3.  I sang the Responsory Psalm for Sunday's Mass from the Lectern.  Quite and amazing feat, for me.  This is the person who would cry if pressured to play piano in front of ten people.  And she stood up in front of about 300 people at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul to sing!  I am proud of her.

Homecomings and Waiting Periods

Nothing exciting has happened here (except for the addition of a PS3 which has been enjoying much use).  I am impatiently awaiting my final grades for English and American Literature.  Oh, yes, and an embarrassing thing happened.  Since I scored an 88 on my final Algebra test, my GPA went from 3.995 to 3.974!  :(  "bad, bad algebra"

As for homecomings, my 1st Lt brother-in-law, better known as Giuseppe Ambrose, has safely returned home from Afghanistan.  Thank you for your service, Giuseppe!  (Even though you are a Marine...)  ;)

Oh, yes, and CMDR Papa is officially CAPT Papa as it is June 1st.  He will have a "pinning" ceremony some time this month.

Friday, May 27

Yay!

American Literature is finished for the year!  I'm just waiting for a grade.  And...  English is finished too!!  I'm just waiting for Mama to edit the las essay for me.

Hoping for good grade, hoping for good grade, hoping for good grade, hoping for good grade, hoping for good grade...

Update

good1I noticed that I have not posted in forever.  So, here's a quick update:

Big bro is graduated.

Still working on American Literature Test.

Band concert was last night (went great!  I got to play Freedom on the piano for a flutist who played the fife part.)

As far as we know, Mr. B has not had another seizure.

Now!  I going to try to start a "Two Truths Tuesday" post.  There are going to be three things that have happened over the last week, and you have to pick the "lie".  Here goes!

DSC_0317V and I were the only ones brave enough to dare the freezing cold water of the broken heated pool.

I shared a red bull with Big Bro on at 10:00 pm on the trip back.

I played ping pong, soccer, and pool with V while everyone else went to the graduation Mass.

Which do you think is the lie?

Tuesday, May 10

Really Quickly...

I just have a second.  I finished Algebra II for the year!!  A 93 final with only three more classes to go!

 Oo-rah!

Oh, and the piano recital went remarkably well.  I might consider putting it on youtube...
