News

I was blessed this week to attend the first professions of two Sister Servants and to spend more time with my future sister-in-Christ, Brooke.  The two of us, Mom, and two friends from Texas visited the shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament before the profession.  We had two meals together and then attended three separate parties after the Profession Ceremony and Mass.  We had a great time!

(The Newly Professed)

Then, this morning I got up (although still struggling with a cold/allergies) and drove an hour to a DMV in the middle of nowhere to take my driving test.  (I had several bad experiences with my local DMV and so decided to take a chance in travelling to another one.)  The people there were very nice and understanding.  And - can you believe it? - it only took them 45 minutes!  It took me three hours to get my permit.  I'm just SO glad its over with!

Movie Time

So, Big Bro and I have had some bonding time.  Since sending Dad off, we've gone to see two movies together.  Yes, this is our idea of "hanging out".  :)  We braved the theater to go see The Dark Knight Rises.  I liked it but for a couple of scenes...   Despite them, I thought it was a great ending to the Batman "legend".  The best part was seeing the previews beforehand - at least one preview: The Hobbit!  It only took three music notes for me to jump in my seat in the theater.

Today we went to see The Amazing Spiderman.  I liked it a lot.  It did seem like a comedy, however,  after watching Batman.  :)  Unfortunately, one of the best scenes was in the preview in its entirety.

Otherwise, I've not been doing much except for babysitting nephews and hanging out with friends.  I was going to get my license today, but I had a flat tire in the Focus on the way...  Yes, my driver's-license-acquiring is not progressing in my favor.  Oh, well.  I guess I just need more experience.  :)

Beautiful Maine

Thanks to Flickr, I now have a few pictures from our trip to Maine.  Check out that beautiful sunset!

Maine has nice looking seagulls, a refreshing change from NC and CA.

Spectacular view!

This should be made into a postcard.

Does this remind you of Minas Tirith (minus the water)?

My Hectic Life

Alright, I know most of my readers have already learned the reason for my mysterious last post.  Its been a whirlwind of a weekend/week.  Mike's coming home from OCS with the possibility of going back to the seminary...  Just pray the Holy Spirit guides Michael and gives him perseverance. We're so hoping that he can be settled soon.

On another note, the ladies' group at the local parish gave me a convent "shower" on Sunday.

I gave them each a nun

Got lots of great stuff

Had some cake

...and chocolate...

And, yesterday Mom asked me to wash the van, which I did, and then I asked if I could give my own car a bath.  We proceeded to have a discussion about my claiming the Focus, but Mom said I can say, while I'm here and Dad's on active duty, that the Focus is "my" car!!

I promptly spent two hours wahsing it (from brown to white), drying it, cleaning it, polishing it, and conditioning it!

No, I was not paid for my work - I was rewarded with getting to drive!  I love my little white car...

Answer Revealed

Two Truths Tuesday

1. We did in fact rip four large bush stumps out of our yard with Grandpa's help.

2.  Dad did not take me out on the interstate on Tuesday (this is the lie), but he did take me(unexpectedly) the next day at night.  There is nothing that excites an adrenaline rush more than driving on a major highway for the first time in the dark.

3.  My experiment to curl my hair half worked, but only lasted about 10 minutes.  I am hopelessly stuck with straight hair.

Going 35 MPH (Yes that's an accomplishment)

I just went driving on the REAL road!!  Anyone who knows where I live can tell you how dangerous it is to pull out of my neighborhood, in a blind curve, on a two-lane-no-shoulder road, and on a ridiculously steep grade.

I did it!  Way to go, me!!  I even had to dodge a bicycle on said road.  Bicycles: no fun - Revving little Focus to go around bicycles: LOTS of fun.

When I excellerated out of a red light, Dad says, "That sounded too much like you enjoyed it."  I think Mama may need to fear my future driving style.  I'll probably be a lot more like Dad on the "want to go fast quickly" notion.  Well, all nuns drive insanely, I'll be sure to fit in!

DMV

I got my permit!!!  Only after 2 hours at the DMV, of course.  I'm legal now.  Yay!

Sorry for my lack of posts.  To make up for it, here's a poll thats LOTR themed...
