Triumphant Return

We have returned from our trip to Florida.  Some events of significance have occurred since our departure.  My uncle was involved in a vehicle accident and is currently in ICU with a broken neck.  Fortunately there was no spinal damage or paralysis.  Still, there's a long recovery up ahead (an estimated 6 months of wearing a neck brace).

Otherwise, Big Bro showed me three"first time" movies for me on the way to FL.  Here is what I would rate each with a little review:

Batman Begins * * * * *   -  Awesome!!  Awesome fighting, awesome morals, awesome romantic theme...  Just plain awesome!

Sherlock Holmes * *  -  Too much 'dirty' stuff for my taste, mainly concerning Holmes' moral...um...habits.

Indiana Jones: The Raiders of The Lost Ark * * * *  -  No, I had never seen the entirety of this movie before this morning, despite my father's great liking of it.  John Rys-Davies is the best part!  (I haven't seen any of the others either, but I've heard they aren't worth the brain cells...)

Captain America * * * * *  -  Yes, I've already seen it and it's still as good in my mind as it was before.  Only, Batman Begins beats it in the list of awesome movies.

Weathertop

Wow.  Let me comment on each:

Aragorn to Boromir 3-1  This was SO hard!
Eomer to Faramir 0-4  This was also SO hard!
Arwen to Eowyn 1-3  I had to go with the human, but it was very close, imho.
Merry to Pippin 3-1  What?!  I gues Merry is more intelligent, but Pippin is way more fun.
Frodo to Sam 0-5  Obviously.
Legolas to Gimli 2-2  Justly put.
Gandalf to Theoden 1-3  Surprised, but agree.
Galadrial to Elrond 1-3  So-so...  I have to say, Galadrial got kind of old after awhile.

OK, here is my congratulations gift:  (I'm very proud of the last two.)

Two Truths Tuesday

1. I saw a Mayfield truck on the side of the road with two dead deer beside it. Who knew where milk came from?

2. The horses used in The Lord of the Rings, the most prominent breed of horse in New Zealand, were mostly all Percherons.

3. You can use ripped MP3s through iTunes provided that your music is not copyrighted.

(sorry about the technical difficulties. Blogger has changed its way of being able to post pictures. I guess they'll work it out and I'll learn more when I'm on the pc. I'm still trying to get used to Apple.)

Birthday

Ok. Today is my 17th birthday. Here are my two birthday gifts.

We went to Biltmore! It was amazing. We went back at night to see the candlelight special in the house. It was absolutely beautiful. And, quite against my expectations, it really felt like a home! I wanted to just curl up in front of the fireplace and read a book.

And, what's the second?

I'm posting this from my iPad 2.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! It was a total surprise when Mom and Dad presented me with a tablet Cruz T301 for my birthday. I was really happy, until we discovered it is a piece of junk. If you want a Nook that will do a few games, run Android, and access wi-fi, it's a reasonably priced tool. So, as Dad was not satisfied with it, we travelled to Best Buy where we met a very helpful tablet specialist who suggested the Acer Iconia or the Asus tablet for a replacement. But, when I asked him which he would buy himself, he said neither - he owns an iPad and loves it. So, we spent about two hours(at least) debating back and forth, went back, and bought a brand new 16GB iPad 2!

Thanks Best Buy Guy! I love my birthday present.

Ok, I missed Thanksgivign Day for getting this post to you.  Sorry.  I also appologize for the poor lighting.  It comes from my not have an oober-doober camera.  I need to borrow Fidelio's for this job.

Results of the Poll

Gondor has it by one!  (Except that really they tied considering that Big Bro voiced his opinion in favor of Rohan but didn't vote...)  I say again, Gondor was won the poll!  That makes me happy because that's what I voted for.  A hard choice, no?  In some ways I'd rather live in the rolling hills of Rohan, but you can't beat Minas Tirith!  Yes, Rohan has the horses...  BUT!  The Gondor Cavelry have much cooler armor I.M.H.O.

It seems that the Original Series crew won over the Next Generation crew (which also makes me happy).  Spock is Way cooler than Data [sorry Fidelio].  Here's a picture of both, thanks to Google.

*Drum roll please*

*Yawn*

I don't have anything productive to do, or anything worth saying.  I just watched an interview of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Patrick Stewart, and Jonathan Frakes.  It was hilarious.

Speaking of hilarious things, I partially fell off the risers that we use for Band practice.  The percussionists have the highest level in the back.  I was unharmed after falling nearly three feet.  Thankfully, my fall was halted by the rim of a tenor drum and a small stair-step.  I immediately resumed my post, only with a considerably flushed face, and criticized my "student" who was nearest me for not steadying me when he clearly watched me fall backwards off the risers.  (You see, I help teach the percussionists in beginning band because there are six of them.  *yikes!*)  His only comment was, "At least you didn't knock over the drum."  He was a big help. :) Then, the worst part was when the mothers who remained in the practice room  laughed outrageously at me.  They sit at the same level as us, on the opposite side of the room, and had a good view of my mishap.  It was very embarrassing.

Prayer Request

Please pray for my aunt's inlaws who are both in the hospital: Carroll with liver and kidney failure and Doyle with a mild stroke/serious anxiety attack.  Carroll is not expected to live much longer.  Please pray for possible healing and a happy death.  Doyle should be getting out of the hospital soon, but is very distressed about his wife.  Thanks!

Two Truths Tuesday I actually spent that morning watching youtube train videos with V, not Curious George.  Captain America is as good of a movie as I remember but definitely deserves the PG-13 rating in my opinion.  (Really scary in parts!)
